For sale is my complete factory stock (except lic. Plate bracket, tires & maintenance items) numbers matching 1974 xlch sportster with 18k miles.Clear n.j. Title in my name. The bike is not perfect, but it is a very well kept survivor and as evidenced by the clean patina, always garage kept.Nice riding, running, shifting, stopping dependable old amf ironhead sportster with all electrical components working as they should and all the original paint, tank decals, chrome & aluminum as also being in very nice condition.I have owned the bike for 3 years and have replaced the factory good-year tires (go with sale of bike) with firestone period appropriate tires/tubes and the following:*nos exhaust muffler mount bar. Orig. had a crack.*nos voltage regulator.*nos battery box decal.*front & rear brake shoes.*caliper seal & piston.*nos master cylinder.*fork seals.*battery.
Please take note - the frame serial # is the correct matching factory hand struck number. The first strike started to run off the engraving boss, so the factory struck a line thru that number and re-struck the same number above it.This typical procedure to correct a stamp mistake during this time period is also explained & verified in a 1986 soft cover book by lee s. Cole, who was a private investigator & consultant specializing in motorcycle theft. Can be found on-line.I also have a copy/picture of an old ebay listing with the identical type factory corrected frame strike.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. The bike is always available for inspection if that is possible for you before ending this listing.Buyer responsible for shipping.paypal deposit of $500 due at purchase.
THE CORRECTED SERIAL# ON THE FRAME APPEARS WHITE AND THE LINE STRUCK SERIAL# IS BLACK. I LIGHTLY SCRIBE THE SERIAL# ON ALL THE BIKES I EVER OWNED WITH A PIN TO PURPOSELY MAKE IT STAND OUT. IF I DID SCRIBE THE LINE STRUCK SERIAL# WITH A PIN THAT WOULD LOOK WHITE AS WELL. THIS IS A COMMON PRACTICE.
**** i was unable to share this link for the book by lee s. Cole on motorcycle identification, but here is the link. http://www.thisoldtractor.com/mg_manuals/book_motorcycle_identification.pdf.
