1980 BMW R100 Cafe Racer. This bike started life as an R100CS. In the fall of 2009 my brother purchased it on ebay sight unseen in it's original, survivor condition. Over the Winter of 2009/2010 the bike was completely disassembled and rebuilt from the ground up. All parts were stripped and painted. The frame, swing arm and center stand were powder coated. The snowflake wheels were replaced with custom wire wheels. There was bracing added to the frame, steering head and swing arm. Race Tech cartridge emulators were installed in the forks. The rear has Ohlins shocks. The stock ATE brakes received a handlebar mounted master cylinder and braided stainless lines. The engine was upgraded with a BMW 336 cam, raised compression and dual plug heads with accel coils. The tail section and front fender/fender brace are from Flat Race. All body work received a fresh coat of paint. After a couple of years I acquired the bike and started with my own mods. I didn't feel the engine ran as strongly or smoothly as it should. I replaced the 2 into one Mac exhaust with a Hoske 38mm full dual exhaust and added a set of Mukini carburetors. After setting timing, valve lash and spending many hours replacing main jets, adjusting needle height and adjusting the mixture screws the engine runs cleanly from idle to 7,000 rpm's. I also installed a set of Michelin tires and Ferodo brake pads. I rode to the Gilmore Car Museum's Vintage Motorcycle Show in 2018 and left with the Best In Class trophy for German Motorcycles. Within the last month I've changed the engine oil/filter, final drive oil, fuel filters, spark plugs and battery. Lately I have been doing more touring on my 2019 KTM and spending less time on the BMW. I realized it wasn't getting enough use and I should try to find it a good home. In an effort to offer full disclosure I will mention that the odometer hasn't worked since I've owned it so the mileage is anyone's guess. I believe the bike has been ridden less than 5,000 miles since the rebuild in 2010. Also, the clock doesn't work and there is one scratch in the paint on the tail section (see the last picture). Other than that the bike is pretty much perfect. If you live in South Eastern Michigan, stop by for a look. Thank you for checking out my bike!
