For sale is a well running 1998 Jaguar XK8 in good, respectable condition.
This Jaguar was never driven in the winters. I've owned the car since 2007 and have been happy with it as a pleasure car. The car is not perfect, it is not a show car or in dealer showroom condition. Those will run you around 10K. This car is not a beater either. It is a used car that was driven about 20k in the last ten years with a total of 83K on it now. There will be some scratches and imperfections here and there. If you want a perfect and pristine car, look at a different one. If you want a good driver at a good price, continue reading.
The interior is in overall good shape and there are no tears in the leather.
The last two winters it has been stored up on jacks (as shown in the pictures) and under a thick, premium, all-weather car cover. Before that it was stored in a garage during winters. The majority of the photos were taken showing the car as it was stored up until spring time. Since I began storing it under the cover, some cracking of the clear coat around the trunk area and the resulting fading paint has developed. I show this in the pictures. Other than that, the rest of the paint is great. The paint is the only reason I am starting the bidding at this price point.
Mechanically, the car runs great. It always starts right up. While I haven't driven it much in the last two years, I do start it and let it run for about 10 minutes about once a month. One recurring sensor issue that it has is that the brake fluid light will go on and off for periods of time. I replaced the brake fluid reservoir thinking it was the sensor but it continued to do that so I just lived with it for the last twelve years as there was no mechanical or safety issue and the brakes work great.
I have detailed service records for the last 12 years while I have owned it. During the last two years I haven't driven it much at all (about 100 miles, if that) as it's not really a family car and I do most things with my family. That combined with the fact that I have three other cars made me decide to put it up for sale. This was a $75K car when it was new back in 1998. It's a real pleasure to drive and still gets lots of looks. Also included in the price of the car are the original wheels and tires and a bra for the front of the car. Contact me for more pictures and specific answers to questions you may have. Please ask questions BEFORE bidding.
There is NO RESERVE on this car. It is sold with the first bid. I will expect a deposit of $500 after the winning bid. This will secure the car and I will remove all the local ads I have to sell it. After that I will expect cash if picking up in person or a wire transfer if you are having it shipped. If you send me a Cashier's check, there will be a one week delay before the car can be picked up. I want to make sure everything is legit. Make sure you have the money BEFORE you bid.
